ANNUAL SHOW - SATURDAY 13 AUGUST 2011

All the sights, smells and tastes of the season were the order of the day at our 66th Annual Summer Show.

This year the Show was organised by Lal Ratnayake, who took over from Alan Gilby when Alan became President of the Society at the beginning of 2011.

Lal led a small sub-committee, who met on a regular basis throughout the year.  On the day, Joan Lawrence and Pam Gibson once again worked hard to provide the beautiful floral displays gracing the stage.

The Show was very well supported, with a total of 448 exhibits submitted in 122 classes by 53 different entrants.  One of our well-known regular exhibitors, John Pitman, was unable to take part this year, through ill health, and we all take this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery.

The Mayor of Bexhill, Cllr Stuart Wood, attended the Show and presented the prizes at the end of the Show.  He praised everyone taking part, especially the very keen children, and praised the community spirit.

Our thanks to everyone who participated, and especially the members who volunteered to form a very able backroom team setting up and dismantling the Show.  We hope that we can encourage all our new members to join in in 2012 when the Show date is Saturday, 11 August.
