70th Annual Lunch: 70 years old and still flowering! On June 17th the Society celebrated its 70th anniversary with an excellent lunch at the Powdermill Hotel, attended by 38 members.
The anniversary was commemorated in style. Joan Moss made a beautifully decorated 70th anniversary cake and the fruits of Margaret's research into the history of the society were shown off in the form of a commemorative scrapbook and a host of photographs and other material.
The after dinner speaker was our local “ Pirates of the Caribbean “ celebrity, Jonathan Linsley who reminisced about his 40 year career as an actor and his problems with the American language. Barbara Lenny thanked everyone for their efforts and, in particular, the organisers Margaret Steer and Joan Moss for all their hard work.
We now look forward to our 70th Annual Show which will be held on Saturday August 15th at the Little Common Community Centre.
